Why write poetry and flash fiction? (Summer Writing Camps)

Hello!

We’ve been busy this past week working on the final touches to Marcia’s poetry and fiction writing camps. So much that we’re not sure that we’ve told you about it yet.

We need to fix that.

If you haven't met her, Marcia Lee Laycock is an award-winning author and teacher. She loves bringing her courses to the world, and we are more than happy to let her.

Poetry Camp: Dwelling in Possibility
runs next week from Monday, August 12 to Thursday August 15th. In the four-day online camp, you’ll get to live classes with Marcia, replays, daily worksheets, daily poetry critiques. Marcia will choose one of your pieces of writing to be published on the Siretona blog and social media.
Fiction Camp: Flash Fiction
runs online the following week, from Monday, August 19th to Friday, August 23rd. This five-day camp will have live lessons walking you through short stories that are 1000 words or less. Each day will come with a new worksheet and critique of the previous day’s work. At the end of the course, we will publish one of your stories (chosen by Marcia) on the Siretona blog and social media.

We wrote about Marcia's summer writing camps in this new blog post. We hope to see you at one or both of these classes! You can sign up at www.siretona.com/offers

p.s. On Wednesday, I interviewed Marcia about her approaches to poetry and flash fiction, and what students can expect from her summer writing camps. Check it out! (Also, what's happening to my eye in the first frame?)

Dear author, It's raining in Calgary, which is a good thing, because we're on water restrictions again. Perhaps you heard about our critical water main break in June? Well, they discovered problems all over that pipe system, so they gave the city a few weeks to get ready for draining the entire length of the pipe to execute a comprehensive water main repair. On the weekend, I bought a couple of rain barrels and filled them. We're trying to reduce our water use in the house. Paper plates...

Hello! I know I told you that I would take down the replay today, but life happens, so I'm extending it. I don't know about you, but my life has been FULL. (I try not to use the word "busy," because I've chosen 90% of my activities and commitments.) A few days ago I was talking with someone about how not all stress is bad, and that good stress is referred to as "eustress." But even good stress adds up. I went to a women's retreat over the weekend and helped to lead the singing. Then I had a...
